Three students from Timber Ridge Middle School took the top three honors in the 2025 Three Rivers Educational Partnership (TREP) Middle School Safety Poster Contest.
Ivan Arroyo, a seventh grader, won the grand prize and a $250 scholarship; Aisha Chavada, a sixth grader, won first place and a $150 scholarship, and Laurand Ndegoe, a seventh grader, won second place and a $75 scholarship.
Timber Ridge also had these 13 finalists who each earned a $50 scholarship:

David Ruiz-Almaraz, sixth grade
Delicia Troy, sixth grade
Natalia Troy, eighth grade
Plainfield East High School junior Javion Davis was also named a finalist and earned a $50 scholarship.
Nine middle and high schools participated in this year’s contest. Timber Ridge was the only District 202 middle school that entered.
Judges from the manufacturing industry selected the winners from more than 200 submissions.
Students created posters that focused on recognizing and eliminating safety hazards at home, in school, or during extracurricular activities.
The goal of the contest is to nurture a safety mindset in the students.
