Justin Koszarek is the Assistant Director of Bands at Plainfield East High School since August 2010. Mr. Koszarek has composed or arranged works for a variety of mediums including: Wind Band, Marching Band, Pep Band, and Jazz Band, Symphonic and Concert Orchestra, Choir, Percussion Ensemble, and other Small Ensembles. He is currently published with Alfred Music and was the commissioned composer for the Youth Symphony of DuPage Concert Orchestra’s 50th anniversary concert (May 2014). He is currently pursuing his National Board Certification.
Mr. Koszarek received his Master’s of Music in Music Education (summa cum laude) from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL) in 2012 and his Bachelor’s of Music in Composition (magna cum laude) from Bradley University (Peoria, IL) in 2005. Mr. Koszarek has taken conducting workshops at the University of Illinois, studied composition and theory with Dr. Stephen Heinemann (Bradley University) and Dr. Nicholas Contorno (Marquette University), Music Theory Pedagogy with Dr. Edward Klonoski (Northern Illinois University), and Percussion Performance with Peggy Bonner (Peoria Symphony Orchestra and Bradley University). While attending Bradley he partook in Master classes with Dame Evelyn Glennie, Kai Stensgaard, and John Kasica (St. Louis Symphony Orchestra). He currently performs with the Naperville Municipal Band under Ron Keller and has performed with the New Lenox Community Band (Bobby Lambert), Bradley University Symphonic Band (Dr. David Vroman), Knox-Galesburg Symphony (Maestro Bruce Polay), and the Marquette University Concert Band and Symphonic Orchestra (Dr. Nicholas Contorno).
Mr. Koszarek maintains active memberships in NAfME, ILMEA, NBA, IEA/NEA, APT, and
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Men’s Music Fraternity.
