This course is intended to advance students organizational, reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills so students are better able to perform with their same age peers in future English courses. Student writing includes journal response and interpretive, expository, persuasive research, narrative essays. Pacing will be slower to give students more time to focus on basic writing skills. The literature features short stories (fiction/non-fiction), novels, poetry, speeches, and articles.
