Attention Juniors and Seniors – Would you like to attend the National Hispanic College Fair on October 2nd?  Hurry to the Student Service’s Office for more details.  Trip limited to the first 40 students that qualify.

 

"Table top gaming club is starting Tuesday, September 24th. If you would like to experience the golden age of board games, or compete against you friends in a battle of wits, Join us every Tuesday after school in room 117 from 2:10 to 4:00"

Attention students, if you would like to give a blood donation you can on Thursday Sept. 26th. The blood drive will take place from 8AM until noon in the auditorium. If you are 16 you must have a permission form signed by a parent.  Everyone must weigh at least 110 pounds.  You can sign up with a BALC member in the cafeteria.  Please see Miss Simon in room 106 with any questions.

Your 2019 Homecoming dance tickets are NOW ON SALE! Get yours for the discounted presale price using the Eventbrite link and password provided through the ConnectED messages and the student council twitter account. If you miss the electronic sales, there will be one day of in-person sales on Wednesday, October 2 during your lunch hours. If you have any questions regarding the details of this event you can contact Ms. Ott in Room 408. Buy your tickets today, you don’t want to miss out!

Attention all students interested in Key Club. We will have our Key Club meeting on Tuesday September 24th after school in the cafeteria. We will have a guest speaker from Kiwanis (the adult version of Key Club) visit our meeting to tell us about volunteering and how it feels good to help others. BE THE KEY!!!

 

BALC will be hosting a fundraiser at the Chipotle on 127th and Rt. 59 on Tuesday Sept. 24th from 5PM to 9PM.  Please come join us for dinner, bring your family and friends for dinner.

** Attention DECA members and students interested in DECA: Our next DECA Business Club meeting will be after school on Tuesday, September 24th until 2:45 pm in Room 130. New members are still welcome to join. We will discuss our Fall Conference. See Mrs. Haney if you cannot be there.

  • “Hello Plainfield East! Are you getting excited for Homecoming 2019!?  Kickoff Homecoming Week with the Plainfield East High School Band at our 12th annual Homecoming Pasta Dinner on Monday, September 30th from 5:00-7:30pm.  Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased by a band student through Tuesday, Sept. 24 or at the door the day of.  Tickets include a serving of meatballs, a drink, and all-you-can-eat pasta, bread, and salad while supplies last.  Additional meatballs and drinks are available for purchase while supplies last.  In conjunction with the pasta dinner, NHS will be hosting their annual Ice Cream Social. Come celebrate homecoming with the Orange House community and enjoy some great food and ice cream!”

 

Do you write your own music? Would you want to be on an album? How about working with a student producer? On October 10th, there will be auditions in the music wing from 2:30 to 4:30. The songs will be released on the school album. If you are interested, be prepared and have original school appropriate lyrics if you are singing. Sign ups will be in the music hallway.

Poetry Club will meet on Friday, September 27th from 2:20-3:00 in 412. JFK to follow!

TCBY is being sold this Friday, September 27th, in room 409 for the price of 4$.  Yogurt will be sold ALL day, but get there early for your preferred flavor.  Stop by for a tasty treat and help support the Humanities Scholarship Committee.  

 

This week the Media Center is celebrating Banned Book Week.  With any book you check out this week, you will receive a Banned Book Week bookmark!  Come to the Media Center to check out a book from our Banned Book Week display, we encourage you to take a book off the shelf and read it!  

And now, today’s banned book trivia: 

This book series topped the list of banned books in 2012, beating out the most controversial title “Fifty Shades of Grey”.  Who is the hero of the popular book series by Dave Pikey, which has been challenged for its “offensive language”?  Think you know the answer, stop by the Media Center to let us know and win a prize!
